Define Your Beauty

Health/Beauty, Latest | by — April 24, 2012

The definition of beauty is…? Any takers? Hmm this might come off as a trick question because there is no right or wrong answer. Beauty is something you create and define for yourself. Even though you are constantly surrounded by a certain type of imager or certain traits that media considered is pretty, it is not their decision to tell you about your beauty.  Beauty comes in so many different colors, sizes, ages the list can go on for days. Your Beauty and your flyness is based on the confidence you posses and the unique traits only you have. Even though it’s difficult to sometimes want to stand out when everyone around you is trying to conform but remember you weren’t created to fit in the crowd! You are here to lead and define how you are perceived. Still need a little mor encouragement to jump start your unique flyness?? Check it out…

Knock Out Stereotypes– Just because you might not see a certain type of person on the cover magazines does not mean that your type is not considered beautiful. We begin to hear what others are attracted to or what is there “type.” These comments can come from closed minded people who feel like the only type of beauty are the girls they see in every music video, wrong!  It’s time for you to knock out stereotypes to the side. Don’t be timid, shy or under play your gorgeous self just because  you’re different. As soon as  you see and identify the beauty in yourself that’s when people will see it in you as well.

Embrace Your Features– So add another homework assignment to your list of subjects. Take 10 minutes, pull your hair back, wipe off any make up you have on and truly take a look in the mirror at yourself. Now afterward really take a good look at yourself. Pick atleast 3 physical traits that you absolutely adore about yourself. See how gorgeous you are without anyone commenting or putting their two cents in.  This is the first step of you embracing your own unique features.

Pick Your Role Models– Ok, so you shouldn’t try to replicate someone else but it’s completely cool to have different people you are inspired by. Find pics of an array of your beauty icons and see how confident they are. For example, if you just cut your hair and it’s taking you a little bit to get used to. Flip through different mags and cut out fly people like Nia Long, etc to see how they are confident rocking their personal style. Once you see that there are others that fearlessly love being them, that will encourage you to do the same.

Relationships, Latest | by — April 24, 2012

If you’re above the age of 16 years old you know it’s illegal to shed a tear?? Crazy law right? Even though this is not true at all, we sometimes feel like it’s a law we place on ourselves.  For some reason we see being grown or mature as not  ever feeling sad or disappointed. The truth is the older you get, the more barriers you are going to have to overcome.  From pressures of staying on honor roll to  guy heartbreak to family problems, sometimes the best thing you can do is shed a couple of tears and not feel guilty about it. Here are a couple of reasons why your eyes needs to be washed by your tears every now and then…

Competing Alone– So here’s the deal  you feel like your parents want you to be the perfect daughter, your teachers want you to be the perfect student, your boyfriend to be the perfect girlfriend and your girls to want you to be the perfect friend. Ok, so yes everyone wants the best for you but most of the time you put extra pressure on ourselves to fit in a certain type of box. At any age this can be an overwhelming feeling. No one is going to judge you for exposing your true emotions more than you. So step away from the judge’s table and free yourself!

Wrong Person, Wrong Situation, Wrong Place– What happens when you hold in your tears? Do you think they disappear forever and never show their wet faces ever again? Nope, they do. If you always feel you have to be tough and hold it in, you will start to take it out on the wrong person or situation. Let’s say your parents crushed your feelings and you decided to hold in your feelings and now you have an attitude or  super sensitive with your friends. They shouldn’t have to take the brunt of that should they?

Feeling Refresh?– Raise your hand if before you cry you felt heavy and sad but after a good tear session you feel slightly refreshed and feel like you can start moving on? I’m not saying tears fix everything but it’s an outlet to allow your true emotions to shine through! Afterward you can begin to see what steps you need to do to overcome your issue. One of the hardest things for anyone to do is to open up yourself and not feel guilty for your emotions.

So guess what?? Big Girls DO Cry!
