*Talk It Out Thursday*
“My parents are pressuring me into studying and doing a career that I don’t want to do. How do I tell them that is not what I want to with my life and I want to follow my dreams??” -Nicole 16
Dear Nicole,
Singer, actress, dancer, athlete…if you mention any of the previous titles your parents almost jump across the table to shake you and tell you to “wake up.” Yes, having back up plans to your life goal is important but that does not mean your passion or dream is unreachable. One way to convey that you’re serious about your dream or career is not only let them know but show them through your actions too! Trust me your parents just want to see you succeed and be happy. My key advice would be to show some initiative in pursuing what you would like to do. If there are classes, workshops or organizations for your future career, join them and become active. The more they see you do the less they will think they have to do for you. If they see you growing into your passion they will support it!
