If you’re above the age of 16 years old you know it’s illegal to shed a tear?? Crazy law right? Even though this is not true at all, we sometimes feel like it’s a law we place on ourselves.  For some reason we see being grown or mature as not  ever feeling sad or disappointed. The truth is the older you get, the more barriers you are going to have to overcome.  From pressures of staying on honor roll to  guy heartbreak to family problems, sometimes the best thing you can do is shed a couple of tears and not feel guilty about it. Here are a couple of reasons why your eyes needs to be washed by your tears every now and then…

Competing Alone– So here’s the deal  you feel like your parents want you to be the perfect daughter, your teachers want you to be the perfect student, your boyfriend to be the perfect girlfriend and your girls to want you to be the perfect friend. Ok, so yes everyone wants the best for you but most of the time you put extra pressure on ourselves to fit in a certain type of box. At any age this can be an overwhelming feeling. No one is going to judge you for exposing your true emotions more than you. So step away from the judge’s table and free yourself!

Wrong Person, Wrong Situation, Wrong Place– What happens when you hold in your tears? Do you think they disappear forever and never show their wet faces ever again? Nope, they do. If you always feel you have to be tough and hold it in, you will start to take it out on the wrong person or situation. Let’s say your parents crushed your feelings and you decided to hold in your feelings and now you have an attitude or  super sensitive with your friends. They shouldn’t have to take the brunt of that should they?

Feeling Refresh?– Raise your hand if before you cry you felt heavy and sad but after a good tear session you feel slightly refreshed and feel like you can start moving on? I’m not saying tears fix everything but it’s an outlet to allow your true emotions to shine through! Afterward you can begin to see what steps you need to do to overcome your issue. One of the hardest things for anyone to do is to open up yourself and not feel guilty for your emotions.

So guess what?? Big Girls DO Cry!
