Good Morning Beauties!

As young females, there is so much pressure to fit  into the perfect box of what everyone considers “beautiful.” Make up, clothes, diets are just a few things we do to create the “perfect” look not to impress ourselves but others.  From how you rock your hair to how much you weigh even the complexion of your gorgeous skin tone, the media makes it difficult to accept and embrace the beauty you naturally have. Even though we all have days where we might second guess our looks it’s important to  realize that your true flyness comes  from  inside. Yeah, I know you heard that a million times but it’s true!.You’re gorgeous on the outside but what truly makes you stunning is being able to offer your talents,  sharp mind, and creative ideas to the world.

“Hey Core! So my problem is that my parents have been really been pushing me to get a part time job and I don’t understand why!  I feel like being a high school student is good enough and if I ever need money I can just ask them for it, so what’s the big deal??” -Ashley,16

Dear Ashley,

Yeah I get it.  Getting a job and having to work on top of balancing your classes is not something you daydream about everyday. But the fact is your parents may be right when it comes to snagging a part time job. Having a job teaches you and gives you more than a check. Check out reasons of why have to get a job is not the end of your world…

Area of Pride. Working your way through life is a very proud moment. Rather than begging your parents for money that they could otherwise be spending on household essentials, you can manage your own money to get the items you see fit. Being able to give your younger siblings small amounts of cash helps build responsibility and character.

Experience. One of the best ways to get valuable experience in the field you hope to be an expertise in one day is to learn from the professionals. If you plan to open up a beauty salon-try being a shampoo girl at a local salon or spa. If you enjoy politics, get a short term job passing out campaign literature during campaign season.

Work Ethic. Above all things, having a great work ethic will help you go far in life. Hard work and diligence are sought after characteristics of colleges, potential mates, and future jobs. Getting up every morning and working hard for something you believe in is admirable.

Independence. Most young people consider getting a job for the material gain. There’s that and there is also the joy of having a paycheck with your name on it. Not only are you contributing to society by paying taxes, but you are also contributing to your future by establishing yourself as a worker. Nothing beats the joy of being able to save your own money to buy something nice for your family and friends.”

Hope this helps!

Good Morning Loves!

Recently a video surfaced of a young 14 year old girl being tased by Allentown Police Officer Jason Ammary. The video is  currently being used as evidence for a federal lawsuit filed against the officer who used unnecessary force to handle the situation.

The edited surveillance video shows Keshana Wilson walking towards a car down the street with  her friends. The video then shows her pushing her left arm against the officer’s face as defense as he pushes her against a vehicle.  She then steps back and he fires his Taser at Wilson.

The lawsuit against the officer claims the girl did nothing to encourage unnecessary force. Her lawyers states  the officer grabbed Wilson from behind without identifying himself and violently pushed her into the car. He also states the officer insulted the young lady’s social status.

This video is quite disturbing due to the fact she’s only a 14 year old girl and there was a better way to handle that situation.

Check out the footage…

Time to speak out! So girls what are YOUR opinions on the situation?

“My parents are pressuring me into studying and doing a career that I don’t want to do. How do I tell them that is not what I want to with my life and I want to follow my dreams??” -Nicole 16

Dear Nicole,

Singer, actress, dancer, athlete…if you mention any of the previous titles your parents almost jump across the table to shake you and tell you to “wake up.”   Yes, having back up plans to your life goal is important but that does not mean your passion or dream is unreachable. One way  to convey that you’re serious about your dream or career is not only let them know but show them through your actions too! Trust me your parents just want to see you succeed and be happy.  My key advice would be to show some initiative in pursuing what you would like to do. If there are classes, workshops or organizations for your future career, join them and become active. The more they see you do the less they will think they have to do for you.  If they see you growing into your passion they will support it!

Good Morning Ladies!

And who says young celebs don’t give back??

One of our fave musical talents, Willow Smith, not only is a ‘Fireball’ on stage but also one when it comes to reaching out to the community.

The young star  teamed up with Target  for her growing “Kids Helping Kids” campaign  to award eight deserving New York students and their families with a holiday shopping spree in the Target Harlem.

“The lucky kids were selected based on a nomination from The Boys and Girls Club of NYC for displaying leadership and academic excellence. Fifty excited honor roll students from The Harlem Children’s Zone also joined in on the early morning festivities to cheer on the families as they sped through the store~RocNation.”
