I’ve been loving the more natural look when it comes to eyebrows, it brings more attention to the actual eye look! Another would be bold lip combos with color on deep-skinned black women! Never tried it myself but a pink glossy lip combo has been my favorite to see so far. 

If you had only 15 seconds to grab 3 beauty products, what would they be?

Colourpop’s Feather Brow Pencil, ANY nude gloss I can put my hands on, and short mink lashes! 

Inspo is everything! Who’s your ultimate beauty icon OR what inspires your makeup looks + why?

My looks are more inspired by THINGS more than people! Going into the store and seeing something as weird as a colorful shampoo bottle or even maybe a pattern on a dress that’s on a mannequin; can inspire me. I love turning actual items into wearable eye looks. I just love transforming in general. I may not be a fan of colorful pigments in my personal life but I love CREATIVITY and love being able to create something from another piece of art! 

How does your makeup reflect your personal style?

I think the funniest thing about my makeup is that it’s always colorful and bold but my personal style is the exact opposite. I only wear black, white, and grey clothing because I’ve always been the “bigger” girl growing up and always felt better in “mute” clothing! My own apartment has no color, it’s strictly grey and white! I use makeup to explore color on my skin tone but I, unfortunately, haven’t been bold enough to wear the colors on fabric just yet but wish me luck! 

What’s one beauty must-have that lives in your bag?

Colourpop’s Pretty Fresh pressed face powder! It’s like a hidden gem in the makeup world. 

What’s your number 1 beauty rule?

The number one rule is that there isn’t any. There isn’t truly a “correct way” to do makeup, always do what’s best for YOU and your skin. Always do what makes you happy! There’s no rule book or list to follow by.

Beauty is all about being comfortable in your own skin + having fun! What are 2 beauty trends you’re loving this year?

Two beauty trends that I absolutely love this year is less is more and pops of color on a bare face. For the majority of my life, I didn’t like the color of my skin and when I hit puberty I hated my dark spots even more. This is something I still struggle with to this day  but one thing that has helped tremendously is the wave of positivity that has come with showing your natural beauty. I still love makeup just as much as the next girl but being able to step into the world and be comfortable in my bare skin is the most important thing to me. Another trend that I have fallen in love with is the pops of color in makeup. Whether, a bare face with some pigmented shadow or a bold lip, this trend has really stolen my heart. To me the basis of makeup is to express yourself and this trend does exactly that. I love seeing the thought process of someone’s look just by observing the color and how they used it in their look.

If you had only 15 seconds to grab 3 beauty products, what would they be?

I would grab tea tree oil, vaseline, and some falsies.

Beauty inspo is everything! Who’s your ultimate beauty icon + why?

My fashion icons are Kiitan A., Zendaya, and Jackie Aina. These three women carry such elegance and confidence in their day to day lives and are so unapologetically black that it’s hard not to be completely mesmerized by their presence.

Getting ready for class can be fun but stressful if you’re in a time crunch, what’s one beauty must-have that lives in your bag?

My absolute must have is chapstick. Whether that be carmex, vaseline, or any other brand I’m trying at that particular time. I always make sure to have a lip moisturizing product on me because having chapped lips is one of my biggest pet peeves

What’s your number 1 beauty rule?

My number one beauty rule is a saying that my mom always says to me when I’m feeling a bit self conscious. Look good, do good, be good, feel good. I live by these words and to me if I look good than everything else can’t be that bad.

I don’t really follow beauty trends but two that I love and use are natural/boy beat and lip gloss.

Colourpop Alissa Ashley gloss, nyx HD concealer and Pacifica dream big mascara are the ones I’m snatching on my way out.

I can’t say really choose between Zendaya and YouTube Alissa Ashley. They really show the two parts of me the natural side and then the more glam side.

My concealer has to be in my bag because I don’t really get much sleep in the first place.

If i had 15 seconds to choose 3 beauty products i would grab E.L.F lock on liner and brow cream, an E.L.F small angled brush and some mascara.

My ultimate beauty icon is Yara Shahidi. Her fun spirit shows through whatever she’s wearing head to toe and I strive to be just like her!

One beauty MUST HAVE is mascara I feel like I look like a turtle with out it (and not a cute one).

What’s your number 1 beauty rule?
My #1 beauty rule is to never go over board. There’s nothing wrong with a little glam once in a while but I also still want to look like myself!

Trend Overload!- We completely get that there’s a brand new trend every time you scroll on Instagram or hit play on YouTube BUT that doesn’t mean you have to wear them all. The beauty about style is that you have key pieces that are your staples which anchors your look. After finding pieces you absolutely love + that represents you then you can filter what trends work well for you. Never feel pressured to rock something that doesn’t help tell your personal fashion story.

Kick Up The Confidence- And last but not least is owning + slaying every piece you’re wearing. Many times your outfit looks great and the only piece that’s keeping it from being runway-worthy is you second guessing yourself. Word of advice: Get out of your head and step into who you are. Style is showing who you are with out having to speak! Name your top 3 trends you’re feeling this season?
I’m not really into trends (and I can’t really keep up). With that being said, I love comfortable style, so I’ve really been feeling athleisure trends. Matching sweat sets (cropped crewnecks are my favorite) and sneakers are two trends that I can’t get enough of. I’m also really excited about nostalgic fashion and how everyone is into 80’s and 90’s brands and logos. It gives me a reason to go thrift hunting!

If you had 30 seconds to grab your 3 favorite style pieces, what would they be?
If I only had 30 seconds, I would most definitely grab my Levi’s denim jacket, my favorite black ankle booties, and my camel beret.

Style inspo is everything! Who’s your ultimate fashion icon + why?
My style changes with my mood, so I definitely have more than one icon. Right now, one of my icons is Monica Brown because I love how she manages to stay on top of trends and hot brands without overdoing it and losing herself. Zendaya is also a huge inspiration because I love how laid-back her at-home style is while her red carpet style is all about ground breaking styles and amazing silhouettes. Her chocolate August Getty dress at the MTV awards was EVERYTHING!

Getting ready in the morning can be fun but stressful if you’re in a time crunch, what’s your go-to look if you’re in a rush?
When I’m in a time crunch, I almost always gravitate towards a striped top (I have way too many), a pair of dark jeans, booties, and my denim jacket. It’s a classic look that works for most settings.

What’s your number 1 rule when it comes to style?
My number one style rule is to stay true to yourself. If you aren’t feeling a look or trend, it will show, and the look will still bomb no matter how amazing the pieces are. Be comfortable in what you’re wearing, and let yourself shine through. Style is meant to be a means of expression, so tell us who you are!

2018 has been a year full of new and super exciting trends! The first beauty trend that I’m absolutely loving is the all inclusive foundation lines that are coming out. It’s very important that big makeup companies help women and men of all skin colors feel beautiful and I love that a lot of them are including lighter and darker shades. The second trend that I am really into is the new lip tints! Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE a cute lip color.

If you had only 15 seconds to grab 3 beauty products, what would they be?
If I had 15 seconds to grab 3 makeup products, I’d grab my eyebrow pomade, concealer, and my lip favorite pink gloss of course!
